My name is David Binns. I began working out three years ago and while I was able to lose weight, I still lacked tone. I began lifting but only showed very small results after a year. Since I have started training with Armen, I have gained about 8 lbs of muscle in a short 3 months. I have more energy, better stamina, and my workout regimen has improved as well to be more rounded. These are things that I tried to do myself by reading books on the subject but that I am now convinced only comes with years experience and an extended education in training. These are both things that Armen possesses and has used to guide me to very favorable results. Using his advice I have improved my diet, and focused on foods that help burn fat and build muscle. My workouts have reached new levels with him pushing me to attain the best results. Armen has also helped me to create a workout schedule for the whole week, not just at personal training. I would recommend personal training to anyone who wants fast results that last.

Addicted to What?

There are some strange addictions out there, and these will make you scratch your head in disbelief.

You’ve heard of addictions to drugs, alcohol, or gambling, but there are all kinds of other addictions. Addictions occur when a person uses a substance or does a behavior that provides some sort of rewarding effect.

Through the substance or behavior, the brain pathways of reward, motivation, reinforcement, and memory are repeatedly activated, giving feelings of happiness and contentment. Over time, the brain becomes rewired in a way that causes the addicted person to constantly crave the substance or behavior, despite any harmful consequences that accompany it. When an addiction gets out of control, professional treatment is necessary.

And strangely, you may be addicted to something and not realize it until it’s taken away. While it may not be drugs or alcohol, your addiction can be one of these.

Healthy Food

It’s good to want to eat healthily, but healthy foods can become an unhealthy obsession. Some people go to extreme lengths to eliminate all possible traces of salt, unhealthy fats, additives, or preservatives. Similar to anorexia or bulimia, these people feel a compulsion to eat healthily in an effort to maintain control over their bodies.


Hours on end day and night playing video games may signal an addiction to gaming. Video games known as MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games), in which you interact with other players in a virtual world, are especially addicting. Without access to gaming, people addicted to gaming may become irritable or restless.


How unsettled do you feel when you accidentally leave home without your phone? Like most people, you probably keep your phone with you at all times and check it often. At the dinner table, while hanging out with friends, or while you should be sleeping, you feel a compulsion to check your phone. Smartphones are increasingly becoming an addiction. Is it for you?


You have to work to feed your family, but work can become an addiction. Workaholics feel compelled to work long hours, not because they enjoy their work, but because they can’t stop thinking about work and feel guilty when they’re not working.


Often called “retail therapy,” shopping can be a way to boost your mood. Finding that great sale, the perfect fit, or your new favorite pair of shoes provides a feel-good rush that can develop into an uncontrollable urge and addiction. Like other addictions, shopping can cause relational and financial problems.

Beauty Treatments

Some people are addicted to beauty treatments. This might be trips to the salon, manicures, pedicures, makeup, plastic surgeries, or tanning beds. An addiction like this may develop due to “body dysmorphic disorder,” a disorder characterized by obsessions with perceived body flaws or imperfections.

Social Media

How often do you feel the need to check your social media? Approximately 10 percent of people using social media are truly addicted. Posts, likes, and followers reward your brain in a similar way to cocaine. Without access to social media you may feel anxious, angry, bored, or irritable.


There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Many people with body image disorders may feel the compulsion to exercise more than necessary in an effort to shape, trim, or sculpt their bodies. The feel-good endorphins released from intense exercise feed the addiction.

Sweets and Chocolate

Do you crave candy, cookies, ice cream, or chocolate? Studies show foods high in sugar, fat, and carbs have a similar effect on the brain as drugs. When you can’t focus on anything else until you satisfy your sweet tooth, you may be addicted. Watch out, because sugar is bad for your health in many ways.
